FAQ : Pricing+

What info do I need to get a baseline quote?
The easiest way to get ahold of me is through Instagram @megmatpic.
I’m looking for surface level, basic who/what/when to get the ball rolling. I don’t expect everyone to come to me with a fully fleshed out shoot. Things are subject to morphing and changing.
Info I need to start is: projected release date of photos, number of people, number of outfits, number of locations (please specify whether indoor or outdoor), and any accommodations there might be*.
*This refers to scheduling, wardrobe and editing process requests. All physical and mental health accommodations are not charged for.

What if I don't know what I want the final product to look like?
I would suggest making a Pinterest board or a folder on your phone/desktop that contains screenshots or photos you’ve personally taken and see where that takes you. Follow that thread and watch movies that aligns with the themes you’ve already collected. Also, there’s no shade if you send me a singular reference and want that. We can figure out!
I’m available via Zoom to consult/iron out ideas. I really enjoy conceptualizing and planning for a shoot.

What are the options for location?
I currently have a running list of places I have scouted for photo/video shoots. I also have my own private studio. Pricing will differ.
A location of your choice is always an option. Travel fees could apply depending on distance and level of effort to set up and tear down.

After scheduling and deposit, what can I expect?
Leading up to the shoot the colors, set, wardrobe, edit style and location details will be clarified and confirmed. I’ll send an agreement for you to sign (I also sign the agreement).
I’m open to reasonable communication throughout, I’d rather clarify/answer questions in real time.
If you are going to be late on the day of the shoot please contact me immediately. If you will be over an hour late we will need to reschedule and depending on the circumstances a fee could be charged. Shit happens and try to be as understanding as possible.
Illness and personal emergencies such as death of a loved one, housing issues, friend actively in crisis, risk of being fired, victim of a crime, and serious threats of physical violence by a third party are scenarios where I would not charge a fee for rescheduling.

How does payment for my photos work?
The pricing rubric I use takes shoot prep, location/studio set up and tear down, duration of shoot, photo editing and deadline into account. If a shoot turns out to be more complex in a substantial way I will invoice for the effort and time needed. This invoice will not come as a surprise, I will notify you and initiate a conversation if something comes up.
Upon confirmation of the shoot via text/email/DM, a non refundable deposit is due. In the case where the scale of the photoshoot is reasonably large, the deposit amount will reflect the scale of the shoot.
Generally, deposits are 30%-50% of overall balance.
When the photos have been completed you will be notified and the remaining balance is due to receive the photos.
I accept Venmo, PayPal and Apple Pay. Please no cash or checks. Payment plans are available.
-
Am I able to request a second edit after I recieve the photos?
The short answer is no. This is because of the time and effort I put in, as well as the care I take during the prep and shoot itself. The final photos I send back align with all materials agreed upon.
Please message/email me if you have a strong consideration for a second round of edits, I am open to talking about this.

What are the photo services you offer for musicians and bands?
More than you’d think! Examples include: full show set, full set + portraits, promotional photos, b-roll, album art, east coast tour, band merch (for socials and/or online store), photo retouching and studio recording documentation.
-
Do you barter or do trades?
Yep, I am open to explore this. My two general rules when it comes to barters or trades are: equal value and shoot ownership*.
What I am open to bartering/trading for in exchange for my photo services: house/studio cleaning, Spanish lessons, tattoos/piercings, tarot sessions, and acupuncture.
*Shoot Ownership includes: who initiated the shoot (commission or art project), who benefits the most, creative direction, who is shopping the shoot and who provides needed assistants, models, set pieces or wardrobe.
-
Do you offer services outside of photography?
I do! I’ve coexisted with the music industry for over 15 years in several capacities including public relations, booking shows, broadcasting, artist management, budget negotiation and behind the scenes at festivals, award shows and fundraising events.
Currently, non-photography services are: press release template, artist bio, show booking, day of support for concerts/photoshoots/music videos, wardrobe sourcing, and creative direction support.
